This week's second update is up and online now at Primalrecords.com, with another 50 titles added to our House, Tech-house, Progressive, Techno, and Breaks catalogs. And don't forget last call for our Restocks catalog: We've got the final remaining copies of a number of rare white label records in the Online Store now. More on that later. For now, here's this week's shortlist:
JACOB LONDON "Casual Bingo" EP Classic [House, Tech-house] Following releases for Viva, Plastic City, and Phil Weeks' Stay True label, the boys in Jacob London (that's two people, not one) make their Classic debut with the Casual Bingo EP. One listen and it won't be too hard to figure out why Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon snatched these tunes up: "Regular Absorbency" is the sure-fire cut here, blending techy drum tones with a funk-charged tricky disco vibe and a respectful cue-take from the DJs who signed it. On the flip, things get really twisted with "Sausages For All," a fantastic hybrid of vintage groove and modern programming tricknology--somewhere between Chic and Aphex Twin, if you can imagine that. "Cataire Cosmic" rounds out the package with more of a proper deep house vibe--warm and seductive, but not fluffy in the least.

DUBBLE D feat. KATE ROGERS "Multiply" (Original & Joshua Mxs) 20/20 Vision [House, Tech-house] They've become a name to depend on, and here, the folks at 20/20 deliver the goods again. The Manchester-based Dubble D hands in "Multiply," which is interestingly enough, a proper downtempo cut with excellent jazzy vocals courtesy of Kate Rogers. Dancefloor enthusiasts, however, will care about the other 3 mixes on this package: San Francisco hero Joshua (aka Iz) handles the remix duties with two dub mixes here--one of which utilizes the original vocal nicely, and both of which find themselves in the dubwise, bass-heavy San Francisco mold that made Joshua famous. Dubble D hands in a deeper dub for the Naked Music set that wraps
things up here, but I've gotta stress Josh's mixes on this one. It's some of his best work in recent memory, without doubt.

DIZZY "Comin' Back Around" (Original & Lawnchair Generals Mxs) Mouthful Music [House, Tribal, Tech-house] Doubledown owner Dizzy goes back into the studio for the new and on-point Chicago label Mouthful Music and comes out with "Comin' Back Around," a chunky West Coast floorfiller whose tribal edge gives it a tougher appeal, but whose warm analog keys and Latin-esque b-line keep it deep. For the remix, Seattle's Lawnchair Generals take a more subtle route, building the track up nicely with a tech-funk groove and punchy bass line before unveiling a vocoded disco hook and a second rolling bass line that kicks it up a notch on the dancefloor.
HAROLD HEATH "Tell Me" (Original & Tony Thomas Mxs) Freaked [House, Tribal, Tech-house] Over the past year, Harold Heath seems to have made an impact on the customers at Primalrecords.com. With releases on Oblong and Groove Pleasure making their way into your boxes, Heath makes his debut on Alex Dean of Souldoubt's Freaked label with "Tell Me," a deep vocal tech-house cut that reminds me of The Timewriter at his peak, or even classic Mood II Swing. Meanwhile, Tony Thomas comes up with some new tricks for his remix: Forget the big room tribal business here. Instead, Thomas goes for tougher, techier vibe while maintaining the depth of the original--there's more bass, more vocal delay, and more club bite.

Also new this week is remix and production work from Mazi, Nigel Hayes (remixed by Fred Everything), David Duriez & Dan Ghenacia, DJ Dan, Bent (remixed by Ashley Beedle and Planet Funk), Attention Deficit, Dubtribe Sound System, Alexi Delano, Casey Hogan, DJ Sneak (back on form!), Justin Long & Sativa, Jay Tripwire, Demarkus Lewis, Ananda Project (remixed by Rui DaSilva and Rob Rives), Nils Hess, Rene Breitbarth, Phonogenic, Freestyle Man, The Rhythm Slaves, and much more.
New label output from Soco Audio, Ri'que, Magnetic, Macintosh, Poker Flat, Loaded, Fair Park, Eukahouse, Treibstoff, Bluem, Sole, Loveslap, Soundproof, YO, and Hypnotic are also in.
And don't forget restocks: We've got the Natural Rhythm mixes of Brandy's "What About Us?" back in full, as well as restocks from our friends at the Sunny Day Records camp including white label mixes of Pink and Ready For The World's classic R&B jam "Oh Sheila." And if that's not enough, we also uncovered extremely limited white label records from the Primal vaults: Mephisto Odyssey's "The Lift" given the Dub mix treatment from Doc Martin! This record is totally out of print and will never be reissued, so this is your last chance on this one. We've only got a handful, so it's first-come,
first-serve.
That should keep you busy for now. Have a great weekend, and be good!
