This week's first update is up and online now at Primalrecords.com, with over 50 new releases to get your week started, as well as a clutch of full release copies for some white label promo action you may have missed. And yes, there are new promos to add to the catalog. Here's a sampling:
JOESKI "Groove Me / Techism / Closer" Tango (Promo) [House, Tribal, Tech-house] Can you believe this is Tango's 25th release? What better way to celebrate than with a new EP from label staple Joeski. "Groove Me" is signature material from this production vet--dubby, FX-laden, bass power--and "Closer" rocks in Joeski's inimitable Latin groove style, but it seems to be "Techism" that's making waves. If dirty funk with a dash of underwater acid and echoplexed keys sounds tasty to you, you're gonna want this one.

MAZI & HARIS "Foreign Policy" (Original, Mazi, and Haris Mxs) Detour (Promo) [House, Tech-house] Back in and still on white label!
JOHN LARNER & SLATER HOGAN "Blessed With Soul / The Azz Track (Original & David Duries Mxs)" Flygaric Tracks (Promo) [House, Tech-house] New label headed up Iain of Funky Transport fame, Flygaric Tracks bestows on us the wonderful privilege of stocking their excellent debut release, exclusively here on pre-release white label. Up first is John Larner & Slater Hogan, who bring it on with a pair of deep, MPC-swinging funky house cuts--think Greenskeepers or Johnny Fiasco for reference. On the flip, Parisian tech-house ambassador David Duriez hands in a massive remix of "The Azz Track"--a bottom heavy, booty-shaking version that borrows heavily from the Chicago aesthetic without abandoning the uber-successful Brique Rouge formula.

V/A "The Lowdown Sampler Vol. 1" (feat. JT Donaldson, Swirl People, Natural Rhythm, and Demarkus Lewis) Lowdown (Promo) [House, Tech-house] In the high tradition of the Doubledown samplers, sister label Lowdown chimes in with a powerful 4-track sampler of its own. Quality deep and funky house fare here from JT, Swirl Peepz, and Demarkus Lewis don't disappoint, but my pick is going to the currently unstoppable Natural Rhythm; "Ma Hoose" is a dose of techy funk that strikes a modern chord with one foot planted inside an old Jeno or Garth tape. Wicked, in every sense of the word.

DJ Q pres. THE JELLYHEADS "Mothers On Drugs / Your Not House / At Last" Doubledown (Promo) [House] He's barely out of his 20s, but DJ Q has been racking up a solid discography since 1994. Here, the Glasgow Underground star gives up an EP for the stateside Doubledown label, and it's already receiving chart action from the likes of Mazi. No kidding. "Mothers On Drugs" is the standout cut here, and this is certainly one Q's finest moments: Raw, funky, upbeat house music that is loopy without being repetitive and cheeky without being cheesy. Add in some extra points for the vintage (and well-placed) Robert Owens sample, and you've got yourself another Doubledown dancefloor classic.

V/A "Antenna International" (feat. Beat Smugglers, Soultek, Marko Katic, and Kate Simko) Antenna [House, Techno, Tech-house] Josh Werner's Antenna International label represents all that Chicago is--a place where you own as many Forcetracks records as you do Classic. On their latest release, the Chicago-based imprint proves the point with what will most likely be this week's sleeper hit: Marko Katic and Kate Simko rock the proper techno on one side, while Soultek rocks a techy house vibe in the Hallucination Limited vein and Beat Smugglers (aka Justin Long and DJ Sativa, who have recorded for Greenskeepers Music, G-Swing, and Siesta) bring on the authentic Chicago house flavor on the other. Absolute quality here on all ends, folks.
OMNI AM "Big Tits / Answers To Questions" LHB [House, Tech-house] Marky Star and Adam Collins make their joint return as Omni AM on London's respected LHB label with an irreverent acid house track that--trust me--will totally envelop the dancefloor. And if they're on chemicals, you might have to peel them off the floors. But that's a whole other story. Anyway, back to the track: If you're looking for something twisted, something mind-altering, something for a 4AM dancefloor that's off their tits, this is the one. Wow.

REVOLT "Genelec" (Original & Kingkade Mxs) Addictive [Progressive, Tribal, Tech-house] Arno Asmus has always been one of those producers that pushes the boundaries of his genre, and under his Revolt moniker, he's managed to do that for a slew of labels including Bedrock, Bliss, Choo Choo, and here, Saeed & Palash's Addictive label. Unfortunately, he's recently decided to retire from production (though I still don't know why!) and "Genelec" is one of the last tracks set to see the light of the day. In reality, it's one more reason why Arno's retirement is so tragic. "Genelec" is progressive with a small "p"--borrowing more from techno stalwarts like Smith & Selway than Sasha & Digweed, but finding grace in its groove, eschewing a full-on techno pummeling. Kingkade goes for the proper proggy remix on the flip.

UNKNOWN (ROBERT OWENS) "I'll Be Your Friend" (Pirates Of Tribal Rmx) White Label [House, Tribal, Progressive] Had to throw this limited white label into the mix. Tribal house fans will not want to go without this one: One part Robert Owens' "I'll Be Your Friend," one part Celeda's "The Underground," and a massive helping of tough but funky percussion make this mash-up booty my favorite illicit white label to come through in quite some time.
Also in this week is new remix and production work from Inland Knights, Le Dav (David Duriez remixed by Djinxx!), Plump DJs (giving Donna Summer a sexy, illicit rerub), Phonique, Mojolators, Solar House (remixed by Kerri Chandler), Southside, Andy Moor, Fabrice Lig, and much more.
New label output from Playhouse, Wave Music, Force Inc, Sabotage, POD, Twisted, Botchit Breaks, Baroque, Seasons, Large, Versatile, and Svek is also in.
And don't forget hot restocks from the folks at Future Dreams and Grayhound, as well as full-release and much in-demand copies from some of the titles that we brought you on white label last month including Jay Tripwire, Afro-Mystik (remixed by Halo and Kaskade), Xavier Mathias (on Brique Rouge), and Army Of One (remixed by Jay Tripwire). Full reviews of these releases can be found in the Newsletter Archive section of the website.
An update for Thursday is already underway and will feature exclusive white label music from Lance Desardi and Hakan Lidbo, amongst others. Watch this space.
