Another massive update has just been added to the Primal Records database, with almost 100 titles joining our House, Progressive, Tech-house, Techno, and Breaks catalogs. There's a load of excellent new music this week, including another batch of pre-release white label music and one of the most trainspotted cuts from Winter Music Conference this year, David Duriez's absolutely mental acid house take of Jungle Brothers' "I'll House You."

Here's the hitlist:

G&O "Down Home / Times Two (White & Blue Mxs) Sunset Recordings (Promo) [House, Tech-house] Even after Tuesday's update, I'm still in the middle of a San Francisco love-bombing phase. Here's some fuel to the fire: As a member of the Pacific Sound collective--the group responsible for San Francisco's legendary Sunset boat and land parties--Galen Abbott is no stranger to Bay Area house lovers. And he's no stranger to vinyl, either; Sunset's last release teamed him up with tech-house pioneer Tony Senghore. Here, he once again joins production partner Omar Serang for a fantastic 3-track EP on exclusive pre-release white label. The music? In my opinion, their best yet: High energy tech-house with a distinguished San Francisco funk flavor and a twisted Chicago jack groove. Flawless.

ZOO BRASIL "Flavour EP" (Original & Laid Mxs) MFF (Promo) [House, Tech-house] Somehow, we scored promos of the next release on MFF and, well, wow. Zoo Brasil take their bow for the label with two new cuts: "Alright" is a no-brainer for the Harvey / Chicken Lips set, anchored down by an organic MPC-style drum sequence, the occasionally sampled funky break, and a dirty disco b-line that pretty much defines this aesthetic, while "Flavour" takes the route pioneered by Chicago vets like Ron Carroll--deep, soulful, vocal house with teeth. My pick here, however, goes to Laid's mix of "Flavour," which turns the original up a few notches into peak-time tech-house territory--and talk about dirty! If you're scared of blasted bass workouts, consider yourself warned.

JAGERMEISTER (JUNGLE BROTHERS) "Watch The Groove" (I'll House You) (David Duriez Rmx) RZ Recordings [House, Tech-house] Hands down the most celebrated tune of this year's Winter Music Conference, Parisian house ambassador David Duriez takes on a New York City hip-house classic with an absolutely genius updated mix. Oh, the Jungle Brothers' "I'll House You." Everyone knows it, but not like this: Raw, tribal tech-house with acid overtones and a stripped down feel that truly allows the original vocal to envelop the dancefloor--and is that Phil Weeks screaming "Check this out!"? We think so. This is a limited pressing and, believe me, it will go fast. Buy it now from Primalrecords.com, or tomorrow on eBay.

NUMATIC SOUL "Niteflite" (Original & High Plains Drifters Mxs) Offset (Promo) [House]
White label action here from the brand new UK-based Offset Music label, and this one is a must-have for the deep house set. Numatic Soul's original is both tough and deep, finding the balance in between a tough and funky rhythm section and a dose of warm analog keyboard play underneath a smooth and jazzy sax break. On the flip, Lowdown's latest stars the High Plains Drifters (Dizzy with Natural Rhythm's Thomas White) hand in a West Coast funk workout that keeps it deep while dicing up the samples into funky rhythmic elements.

MARKY STAR "Rattlesnake" (Original, Get Fucked, and Collins & Harris Mxs) Big Chief [House, Tribal, Tech-house] Omni AM collaborator Marky Star returns with a Big Chief follow-up to "Disco Freakin'," and this ain't no sophomore slump. "Rattlesnake" is a tweaked and trippy house cut that pays homage to both Detroit techno and the Chicago house scene that spawned him--it's an easy crossover cut for a wide variety of DJ playlists. On the flip, his Omni AM partner Adam Collins teams up with Matter/Form honcho Francis Harris for a proper tech-house rub in the vein of Terry Francis or early Swag, while Nathan Coles and Nils Hess dust off their Get Fucked
moniker for a rapturous acid house mix that's been in my own personal box for a couple of months now. Excellent.

STARKID "Crayons" Release [Progressive] Nick Warren surprised just about everyone with his latest Global Underground mix, a leftfield collection of proto-progressive, ambient, breakbeat, and a wee tad of proper dance music. Most symbolic of this mix was a then unsigned track from Starkid, called "Crayons." What was the fuss? "Crayons" recalls all of the things that made progressive house such a dancefloor force in the mid-'90s--the sweeping melodies and the graceful subtlety of atmospheric layering that somehow got lost in a wave of beat-you-over-the-head-with-snare-rolls records that dominated the end of the decade. Starkid has more in common with the artists on Warren's GU--Boards of Canada or Global Communication--than he does Tiesto, and that's what makes this record so damn good. There's a tougher dancefloor mix on the flip, but the original Reykjavik mix stands out and shines.

UNKNOWN (KATE BUSH) "Running Up That Hill" (Infusion Rmx) White Label [Progressive] Infusion have been a busy lot as of late: In addition to a slew of proper remix and production work, the Australian production team has also been reworking a clutch of excellent material--my favorite being their breaks mix of Bjork's "Pagan Poetry." Here, they step out with a progressive house mix of the Kate Bush classic "Running Up That Hill" and it does not disappoint. From a solid tribal hook, the track springboards and swells into a wall of sound that climaxes with Kate's gorgeous voice and a true club-absorbing moment. The perfect track for the when the lights go up and the night must end.

Also in this week is new production and remix work from the likes of Swirl People (remixed by Paul Woolford), Greyarea, the return of Souldoubt (!), Spectrum Is Green (with Moody B on the remix), Polefolder, Mark Wheawill, Martini Bros., AJ Scent (with awesome Medicine 8 remixes), Q-Burns Abstract Message (remixed by Joey Negro), Presslaboys (remixed by Rob Mello), Solo, Flow, Martin Venetjoki, Lucas Rodenbush (EBE), Holden & Thompson (remixed by 20/20 Vision's Silver City crew), Mr. Velcro Fastener, Brother Brown, Envy, and a fantastic effort from the new Kailash label from James Warren & Arnaud Le Texier, among many others.

New label output from Tronicsole, Freaked, Sunkissed, Dorigen, YO, Poker Flat, Immigrant, Red Menace, Cyber, Shinichi, Moving Target, Slip N Slide, Loaded, Ovum, Myna, Moon Harbour, NRK, Honchos, and much more is also in.

On the full release tip, this week marks the official release of Patrick Turner & Community Recordings' fantastic new EP for Movim. If you missed this on white label, it's finally here.

And finally, restocks. We've got plenty. Check out quality releases from the Classic camp, Scott Pace's standard-bearing first EP for Crack & Speed, Jay Tripwire's latest on Aztlan, DJ Ali's mix of Roy Davis Jr. on Bombay, Kaskade's hard-to-find mixes of Justin Timberlake's "Like I Love You," a limited restock of the latest Ri'que releases from Hipp-E and Chris Lum & Jay-J, and Derrick Carter remixing Woody McBride. It's all back in now.

There's a contest going on. Check the site next week for details on how to be one of three Worship Recordings prize package winners. And a photo round-up of Primal's 10 Year Anniversary with most of your favorite Primal Records cast members getting messy. Until then, be good.
