This week's primary update is online now at Primalrecords.com, and we've got over 50 new titles added to our House, Tech-house, Progressive, Techno, and Breaks catalogs—including four brand new and exclusive pre-release white labels from the likes of Tango, Siesta, and Bluem.

Also new that you'll want to check out is Utopia, the brand new independent mixed CD from San Francisco's legendary DJ Jeno. Having influenced just about everyone on this side of the country (and beyond), Jeno's sound is a pioneering blend of classic San Francisco house, early UK acid, and rich complex rhythms. If you're already a fan, you know what I'm talking about. If not, consider Utopia your perfect primer.

As for vinyl, here's the shortlist:

SPETTRO, DIESEL & DESMET "That's The Joint" (Original, Diesel & Desmet, and Spettro Mxs) Tango (Promo) [House, Tech-house] A collaboration this hot can only arrive on Tango. Three of the year's brightest producers—Texan DJ Spettro and in-house Amenti Music production duo Olivier Desmet & Chuck Diesel—team up for an exercise in stripped down West Coast flavored house with a deep edge. The original mix takes a fleshed-out and funky vibe, combining low-end rhythm with high-squelched 303-isms, while Diesel & Desmet move their mix further into the deep end with an array of jazzy key stabs. But as good as that is, it's DJ Spettro's remix gets my endorsement here: Somewhere between Chicago house and all-out dub (check the break!), Spettro's mix is a classy, inspired take on the tech-house blueprint.

SOULDOUBT "I Ain't Hurtin / 4820 Sunset / Gogo" Bluem (Promo) [House, Tribal, Tech-house] After a fresh set of deep dancefloor records, Halo's Bluem imprint returns to its roots via Alex Dean and his always on-point Souldoubt guise. Here, it's a blend of both worlds: "I Ain't Hurtin" carries the depth of a deep house jam, but pumps up the rhythm section for a tougher tribal affair that will work most any time of the night. On the flip, "Gogo" finds itself chasing more of a Latin vibe with it's uptempo drums and intermittent hornplay, while "4820 Sunset" is the one you'll find in my crate: Seductive chord arrangements float behind a to-be-reckoned-with b-line groove that just about defines this EP. It's a return to form for all parties.

FRESH & LOW "Spooked" EP Bluem (Promo) [House] I kid you not: Just the other day, I was thinking out loud, What ever happened to Fresh & Low? After a clutch of much-loved releases from everyone from Large to Guidance to Airtight, it's been a while since we've heard anything. Here is the return: New for Bluem, Calum Walker breaks off a sophisticated 4-track EP for the heads: "Spooked" comes in house and broken beat mixes for the early evening, while "4 Funkin' Deep Dancin'" and "On The Ride" carry the flipside for a dose of proper dancefloor action—one of which borrows from the disco aesthetic, while the other rocks a tougher, tech-jazz notion, likeable to Walker's work for DIY Discs. Solid.

ALEX TRAX & DJ THANNO feat. CALUM WALKER "The Underbed Sessions Vol. 1 EP" Siesta (Promo) [House] Following a high-profile remix job for Julius Papp & Jay-J's Shuffle Inc. project, Greek production duo Alex Trax & DJ Thanno return with their very own EP for Siesta Music. And these guys are a find: "Brooklyn Heights" is a wonderful tribal house cut with an old school New York vibe and flawless sax delivery, while "The Strobe" follows up on a modern funky house tip with a fat rolling bass line and a nod to the UK end of the deep house sound. It's no wonder then that Fresh & Low's Calum Walker lends his ear to this project as well.

APHASIA "Acapulco / Say Hello" Hallucination Limited / Acapulco Pt. 1 (Chris and Kai's Acid Island Trip and Sean Cusick Rmxs) Hooj Choons / Acapulco Pt. 2 (Original Mix) / Say Hello (The Crazy Tron Mix) Hooj Choons (Tech-house, Progressive, Breaks) Three plates in one week? This must be one special track. "Acapulco" first reared its head on James Zabiela's excellent Sound In Motion CD, was signed to DJ Three's Hallucination Limited imprint, and later found its way licensed back to Hooj for a pair of remix discs. Now that all three discs have made their way into the Online Shop, I get it. If you lean on the techier side of your tech-house, your best bet is the original Hallucination version for "Acapulco"'s rare summery vibe and the flawless "Say Hello" (which I actually considered signing to PR2 at one point!). Disc 1 of the Hooj set has a more progressive take on the original by Chris & Kai backed with a tight and stylish breakbeat interpretation by Mr. Sean Cusick of the Second Hand Satellites. And finally, Disc 2 of the Hooj set puts forth the original mix for those who choose to eschew the Hallucination version, backed with a Rob Rives-styled tech-house version of "Say Hello" unavailable elsewhere.
