New music is up and online now at Primalrecords.com, delivering a massive selection of new House, Progressive, Techno, and Tech-House tracks including new music from the ever-lovable Derrick Carter, Onionz & Tony, and an uber-restock of ever-impossible-to-find Panhandle back catalog. Here's a partial rundown of this week's must-see new stuff:
DERRICK CARTER / RED NAIL "People" (Alternate Mix) / "An Afterthought..." Robsoul [House, Tech-house] I probably don't have to say much here. If I need to sell you on Derrick Carter, you probably don't play house music. Two tracks from this Chicago house legend which first appeared on Icon; the first, is an alternate mix of "People," which will appear on Derrick's forthcoming full-length artist album, while the flip is a Red Nail collaboration with longtime cohort Chris Nazuka. This week, it's my essential pick.

V/A "Splinter: A Paper Recordings Compilation" (feat. Harlem Zip Code, Crazy Penis, Reset, Tony Senghore feat. Freeda, Dealers Choice, Future Rhythm Foundation, Keyboy, and Del-5) Paper Recordings [House, Tech-house] In case you missed something, the Manchester-based Paper Recordings has been churning out an alarming rate of quality material in the past year or so. Here, the label wraps up some of its best into one tidy package, highlighting cuts from Harlem Zip Code, Crazy Penis, Tony Senghore, and others. Rounding it out is a brand new track from Reset (the techy-breakbeat "Gasflap"), but if you missed any of the aforementioned records the first time around, this is your chance to catch up at one low price. Quality.

ONIONZ & TONY "Drum Circle" EP Household Recordings [House, Tribal, Tech-house] The long-awaited bow of a new Bay Area label. Welcome, Household Recordings! First up is the official release of a new EP from 6400 Crew stalwarts Onionz & Tony--a blistering tribal workout cut up over three tracks. If you have even the slightest fear of drums, well, this might not be the record for you. But dedicated tribalists will be allover the climactic and edgy "Drum Circles," while the more subdued "Tribal Touch" gives the theme a deeper rub while upholding its tough New York attitude. White labels of this one flew out when we had them a few months back; this time, though, we've got plenty. In the meantime, keep an eye out for this up-and-coming label with a forthcoming release schedule that includes new music from Jay Tripwire, Grant Dell, Get Fucked, and more.

UNDERWORLD "Two Months Off" (John Ciafone Vocal Rmxs) JBO / V2 [House, Tech-House, Progressive] I love Underworld. These guys are one of few artists who can truly claim dancefloor genre transcendence, and here, they do it again by enlisting Mood II Swing mainman John Ciafone for the remix. Something for everyone, Ciafone's Vocal Remix keeps much of the melodic edge of the original, replacing its pumping techno kick with a housier feel, but my pick goes to Ciafone's Vocal Mix 2, a back-to-basics tech-house cut that hones in on the shuffling house feel of the first mix and keeps it stripped down for maximum timelessness.

PLASTIC SURGE "Sonido / Burbuja" Twisted [Progressive, Tribal] Hot on the heels of his "Irresistable" single for Loaded and a brand new compilation of his own productions and remixes for Twisted, Superchumbo's Tom Stephan sends up a collaboration with Miguel Pellitero as Plastic Surge. "Sonido," one of the highlights from his "Get The Lead Out" mix CD, is classic Superchumbo: Techy percussion, dark key stabs, and an expressed loyalty to the big room sound of the classic Sound Factor--sans the cheese, of course.

Also new this week is remix and production output from Laid, Chus & Ceballos, Kings Of Tomorrow, Luke Fair, Ian Pooley, Matthias "Matty" Heilbronn, Marcelo Castelli, Quivver, Timo Maas, Pete Heller and Smokin' Jo, Swayzak, Asad Rizvi, David Duriez, Tony Thomas, Miguel Migs, Idjut Boys, Basement Jaxx, Kaskade, and 16B, among others. New label output from Alola, Jamayka, 20/20 Vision, Soma, Honchos, Yoshitoshi, Junior, and Baroque are also in. And as I mentioned before, we've got a massive restock of classic Panhandle titles, including material from Mark Farina, JT Donaldson, Lance Desardi, Brett Johnson, Freaks, Swirl People, Tony Senghore, and much much more.
Finally, Bay Area folks will not want to forget to hit Club 6 in San Francisco next Saturday night, October 19, for the latest Primal Records Get Underground! party featuring Tony Hewitt (Tango, Nightshift), Jeno (Wicked), DJ Adnan (Uniting Souls, PR2 Recordings), and yours truly, Norman Arenas (Primal, PR2 Recordings). This party will celebrate the forthcoming release of DJ Adnan & Amit Shoham's "Searching" 12-inch (with Jay Tripwire on the remix) for PR2 Recordings and exclusive pre-release white labels of the release will finally be available online at Primalrecords.com the following week. Please do not sleep on this event or record! (Full details for the party can be found in a Spotlight window on our website while Real Audio for the single is up on our Label pages. Please check it out.)
Until next time, thanks so much for all your support and be good!
