This week's first update is up and online now at Primalrecords.com, and we've got new additions to our House, Progressive, Tech-house, Techno, and Breaks catalogs, as well as another exclusive white label that proves that the talent in San Francisco is not limited to big names like Jay-J and Rasoul: We've got a vibrant local scene full of up-and-comers whose time is coming. Here's the shortlist:

JOEY YOUNGBLOOD "Luv Bump" (Original, Triple Jack, and Frugaletti Mxs) Good Family (Promo) [House] Oh, how much do we love it when an unknown producer captures our crates with unanimous approval? Local label Good Family makes its vinyl bow with this excellent exclusive: While the remix work from Dee and Mike Frugaletti certainly deliver on the deep house tip (as Triple Jack) and on a techy house vibe (for Frugaletti's Bumpin' Ugly's Mix), it's Joey Youngblood's original that is doing it for me. The beats are fat and chunky (and surely inspired by Derrick Carter), the vibe is West Coast, and—bring it in, boys!—the piano solo that anchors the track gives it a memorable hook that is sure to resonate well into the afterhours. Support from Doc Martin is already making this premier package one to watch in the big leagues. We love it.

TOE JAM "Toe Jam" (Original & Phil Weeks Mxs) What Goes Around [House, Tech-house] New Subliminal imprint What Goes Around takes the underground house route with a brand new track from Toe Jam—a production trio that includes Back To Basics resident Paul Woolford. Where the original mix takes on a bigger UK house aesthetic with an outdoorsy Ibizan edge, it's Robsoul mainman and Fries & Bridges collaborator Phil Weeks who takes it indoors for another one of his mental-and-machinated tech-house bombs. Raw, funky, and always jacking, Phil's mix draws the line between big and small rooms and executes a wholly versatile production with sheer bass power. And just in time for his upcoming San Francisco gig this weekend!

QUICKSOUND "Stop Foolin' Around" Twisted [Progressive, House, Tribal] It opened the second CD for Danny Tenaglia's ridiculously good Back To Basics compilation. And the last time I saw Danny play here in San Francisco, it opened up the 2AM hour when he cut the music completely and let the track's ominous intro build everything back up. Somewhere between Masters At Work and Superchumbo, Quicksound's "Stop Fooling Around" is tribal house gold—and its dark, brooding, ethnic, and rootsy percussion will find appreciation everywhere from the Shelter to the Sound Factory. It's no wonder then that Tenaglia personally signed this one to his longtime home at Twisted—the label formerly known as Tribal America. Excellent.

Also in this week is new remix and production work from Paul Johnson, David Duriez, DJ Icey, Dominica, Gus Gus, Flow, Peter Bailey, Cutlab, Gideon Jackson, Krafty Kuts, Kraftwerk member Karl Bartos (remixed by Orbital and Felix Da Housecat for Kompakt!) and much more.

New label output from Harlem, Dust Traxx, Zone, Low Pressings, Advance, London Housing Benefit, Deepcut, and more is also in.

More music to come, and if you live in the Bay Area, don't forget that this weekend's Get Underground! presents the return of Fries & Bridges and a Minority Music record release party featuring Phil Weeks. (Jeno's playing, too!) Full details to come on Thursday.

Until then, be good!
