This week's second update is online now at Primalrecords.com, with over 70 new titles to add to our House, Tech-house, Progressive, Techno, and Breaks catalogs. Three new exclusive pre-release whites are in this week as well from the fine folks at the Bluem and Siesta labels. And a host of excellent new music out now on full release.

Here's the shortlist:

MAGAL DJ "Carma Vision" Bluem (Promo) [House] There's no info here, no one-sheets, no nothing. Just a white label with three tracks. Continuing their recent exploration into all things deep, Bluem's latest is a jazzy excursion with a definite summertime feel--just in time for the feel-good outdoor vibe facing the months ahead. Track B2 keeps the vibe alive, but delays the sax and vocals for a sexy tech dub--securing my personal pick for this lot.

WORKING UNDERNEATH "I'm The Wind" Siesta Music (Promo) [House]
Must be something in the water over in San Diego, but longtime favorite Siesta seems to be joining Bluem in the race to fill your deep fix. Their latest release, here on promo only, is a fantastic vocal houser with organic percussion, analog depth, and a nice jazzy bass lick--reminding me of classic Love From San Francisco or Kimbu Kimra's deep house classic "Raise The Dead." The second mix has more of a jack to it for the post-midnight set, but the original mix casts a resonant shadow on the rest of the EP; this is a top tune.

FUSTY "The Song While" EP 2x12" Siesta (Promo) [House]
Once again, Siesta, and once again, I've got no info to go on. Musically, though, these guys are obviously trying to make a statement for the future of house music and all signs are pointing deep. Their latest release is a double-pack of mixes: The A1 mix is a groovy vocal house cut with a slight Latin vibe permeating both the percussion and hornplay, while the flip kicks it downtempo style for a lounge set. On the second disc, the pace is picked up for an Afro-groove styled vocal cut backed with a fantastic deep and dubby reggae-styled mix that's got DJ versatility, but keeps it deep. Fans of the Siesta and Bluem sounds of old might have a bit of a shock here, but make no mistake: The sound might be different, but the quality remains the same.

PTY LTD. "Who's Been Watchin' U" (Derrick Carter and 2nd Shift Mxs) Gallery [House, Tech-house] So now that you're all warmed up with the deep and sexy sounds of San Diego, what the hell are you gonna play at 1AM? Derrick Carter is most probably the most consistent producer of the past 10 years--I can't even think of a disappointment from the man--and his latest effort remixing Pty Ltd.'s "Who's Been Watchin' U" continues in this fine tradition. Stripped-down, jackin' Chicago beats with a techy edge that volleys effortlessly between warm key stabs and frantically dirty acid. Is there any question that this is my pick of the week?

JASON JINX feat. PAUL ALEXANDER "Your First Time" (Brett Johnson and Soul Rebels Mxs) Fluential [House, Tech-house] Hot on the heels of his latest success on Classic, Brett Johnson hits the remix circuit with this rerub of Jason Jinx's recent UK hit "Your First Time." Much like last year's "Remember Chicago," "Your First Time" finds itself shrouded in retrospective--so it's only natural that Johnson would give his mix a slightly vintage rub. All the Brett Johnson staples are here: Techy beat jugglery, strategic robot audio, memorable b-line action. But what separates this track from his past are the classic, uplifting acid house keys that recall some of the best late 80s house records ever. Fantastic.

JEFF BENNETT "Puzzling Thoughts" LP 2x12" Episode [House, Tech-house, Techno] Best I know, this is Jeff Bennett's first stab at a full-length, and man, it's good. How much do we love Jeff Bennett around here? Oh, let us count the ways. His seamless integration of deep house and techno has rocked both crowds alike--and let's face it, not many people can claim to have a discography that spans from Triebstoff and Poker Flat to Worship and Jamayka. Puzzling Thoughts pulls together some of Bennett's best-ever work and, honestly, there's not a filler in the bunch. Some deep and dubby, some tight and techy, some even downright funky (see the album-opener, "Open Your Eyes," for more on this development), but all of it classy and sophisticated--and still fun.

Also in this week is new remix and production work from Locomotive & Swan, Nigel Hayes, Swag, Attaboy, 15 Pearl, D'Malicious (promos of his latest twisted tech-fest for Wave), Ciudad Feliz, Milton Jackson, Tony Senghore, Precision Cuts, Smight, Gordon Edge, Faculty X, Laid, Schmoov (remixed by Crazy Penis), Tobi W (aka Greed), Decomposed Subsonic, our buddy Leon Roberts (remixed by Josh Wink), and a pair of excellent--believe it or not--Jamiroquai mixes from Big Head, among many others.

New label output from Coco Machete, Morris Audio, Mark E. Quark's Facade imprint, 3AM, Wave, Stereo Productions, Mob, Functional Breaks, Treibstoff, Tune-Inn, Hellpass, Forcetracks, Trapez, Soma, Loaded, DIY Discs, and Shaboom, alongside much more, is also in.

On the restock tip, don't miss full release copies of Roy Davis Jr.'s latest from Jamayka, the newest East Coast Boogiemen EP from Lowdown, and DJ Q's ever-popular "Mothers On Drugs" for Doubledown--all back in now. You'll also want to check out Soundproof's second release from Cle feat. Derek Verrett--absolutely wicked US tech-house--and Chris Lum's latest for Room Records. Back in full.

It's beautiful outside here in sunny Berkeley, so I'm out of here. Until next week, be good!
