A fresh batch of records have just been added to the database over at Primalrecords.com, this time including a batch of exclusive white labels from our friends at Grayhound, Jamayka, and Swag, amongst others. Here's what I'm feeling:

JOSHUA COLLINS "New Found Notions" EP Grayhound (Promo) [House, Tech house] He's from Chicago, he's worked on loads of records with Mazi, he's got an impressive CV of releases for himself on every label from Simple Soul to Prolekult, and now he's making his debut for DJ Garth's esteemed Grayhound label. With his New Found Notions EP, Joshua Collins steps in with a delay-heavy dose of atmospheric tech-house for the main room. Unlike your typical Grayhound fare, Collins eschews the minimal dub vibe for a dense and melodic dancefloor-minded 3-tracker that stylistically navigates its way through classic Chicago house, dub, techno, and UK acid house to form a truly unique vision for such a relatively new producer. And it's going down large at SF's famed Wicked parties. As always, this an exclusive white label pre-release and it's first come, first serve.

SOUNDS OF THE SUBURBS "I Won't Stop" (Original, Jay Tripwire, and DJ Shaggy Mxs) Swag (Promo) [House, Tribal, Tech-house] This one was quite the pleasant surprise: Paul Swag and Pete Hurst team up as Sounds Of The Suburbs for "I Won't Stop"--a funky London tech-house rub with a distinctly urban feel and an authentic nod to the classic UK house sound. Perfectly playable in its own right, the original mix should get nods from the Music For Freaks set and the like; my pick, however, goes to Jay Tripwire's absolutely fantastic tribal tech-house mix. The deal breaker here? Check the massive bass-driven breakbeat bridge for all of its full funk potential. Ooh. This is goosebump-worthy.

LOUIS BOTELLA "Instinct" EP Jamayka (Promo) [House] Best known for his production partnership with Marino Berardi and a slew of releases for labels like Classic, Riviera, Moody, Poker Flat, and Camouflage, Louis Botella returns to vinyl with this brand new EP for Chicago upstarts Jamayka Recordings. "Instinct" takes Botella into uptempo funky house territory, propelled by a cut-throat bass line, slight tribal percussion, and warm keyboard pads. On the flip, the Saturday Night Mix takes things up a notch, with added emphasis on the percussion and a slightly deeper bass tone. Rounding things out is "Losing Control," a strictly-dancefloor cut with a tracky edge and an exercise in clever sample-isms for the West Coast house heads. Hot on the heels of their recent releases for Mazi, Tony Thomas, and Kaskade, Jamayka is on quite the winning streak. Once again, this on white label only and it's in limited supply. Act fast.

Also in with this latest batch are new white label releases from Jay Tripwire and Omni AM, as well as proper releases from Terry Francis's Metaldogz project, Alexander East's latest with Swirl People on the remix, Gideon Jackson, and Bizarre Groove's latest nu-school breaks EP for the Circular Orbit label.

Keep your eyes on the weblog for a new contest coming in the next couple of
weeks. It's gonna be a good one.

Until next time, be good.
