This week's update is up and online now at Primalrecords.com, and
it's neatly folding itself into the where-do-I-even-begin category.
Well over a hundred new titles are in this week, covering the broad
spectrum of what we do here--house, tech-house, progressive, breaks,
leftfield, techno; it's all in stock. And white label exclusives?
We've got over half a dozen of them, from the likes of Lowdown,
Doubledown, Big Chief, Stupendous Music, Safe In Sound, Nightshift,
and more. That's not even mentioning hot restock material from Nathan
Coles & Smithmonger, Chris Specht & Claude 9, Brett Johnson,
and those Alex Pearce white label mixes of Boy George that just
about flew out of here last week in a matter of minutes.
But most exciting is this week's leading pick. Don't say I didn't
warn you:
DJ ADNAN & AMIT SHOHAM "Searching" (Original &
Jay Tripwire Mxs) PR2 Recordings (House, Tech-house, Tribal] The
PR2 label officially makes its bow (finally!) with full-on finished
copies of this tribal house diamond. Local SF producers make good
on the Original Mix, while Tripwire gives up a deep percussive mix
for the heads. Everyone from Mazi to Buck to Mr. C to Nathan Coles
to Hipp-E to Bill Hamel to David Duriez have sung its praises. And
we're proud to deliver.

JAY TRIPWIRE "Then & Now" EP Nightshift (Promo)
[House, Tech-house, Tribal] Jay Tripwire is the busiest man
in house music this week, by far. Exclusive white label promo copies
of his latest EP for Nightshift solidify his status as Canada's
most prolific and consistent export: "Allnight" is peak-time
house music with a percussive flare, but "Deep Herbie"
is where my money's at--funky and twisted tech-house for the Natural
Rhythm and Swag sets.

ADAM COLLINS "Good Times" (Original & Spettro Mxs)
Big Chief (Promo) [House, Tech-house] Chicago native and Omni
AM co-founder Adam Collins finds his muse with New York's Big Chief
label for a rousing new collection destined for the big room at
Fabric. Texan DJ Spettro hands in a pair of unique mixes with a
fabulous swagger that will keep clubgoers on their toes. These are
extremely limited, and as always, it's first come-first serve.

EAST COAST BOOGIEMEN feat. APPLE ROCHEZ "Between My Sheets"
(Original, All Good Funk Alliance, and Rhythm Slaves Mxs) Lowdown
(Promo) [House, Tech-house, Breaks] The most powerful Lowdown
release, in my opinion, since Swirl People's last EP, Washington
D.C. production wunderkinds East Coast Boogiemen overshadow all
of the remix work on the EP with their own Original and Breakbeat
mixes. Nasty bass-synth propels this raw percussive funk in a way
that ECB haven't explored since their brilliant Straight Up EP
for Brique Rouge. I'm loving this.

V/A "The Spring Sampler Vol. 2" EP (feat. Johnny Fiasco
& Dizzy, Natural Rhythm, and Thomas Sahs) Doubledown (Promo)
[House, Tech-house] Might as well bring in a tight release for
Doubledown since the new Lowdown is so hot, right? All three tracks
on this sample are top-shelf house cuts with a techy edge. Johnny
Fiasco & Dizzy balance the line between deep and devastating,
but the entire Primal Crew fell in love with Thomas Sahs' "Crunchtime"
immediately. So authentically Chicago you'd never guess he came
from San Diego.

ARMY OF ONE "Lion's Roar" (Original & Jay Tripwire
Mxs) Stupendous Music [House, Tech-house] Jay Tripwire again?
(I don't suppose I should mention his newie on Drenched about now,
huh?) Gotta love the guy. Here, he gets his dub on with a proper
reggae-influenced houser that is no doubt doing damage with the
Grayhound and Worship cliques. My only question is where does he
find the time?
OSCAR G & RALPH FALCON "Dark Beat" 2x12" (Southside,
Trendroid, Stryke, Giuseppe D, and Duo Of Darkness Rmxs) Twisted
[House, Tribal, Progressive] My love for Murk is no secret.
"Dark Beat" was their biggest record in years, so it's
only natural that the Twisted America crew give up the outstanding
remix package. Kudos then to Rob DiStefano for uncovering loads
of new talent on this package. Though bigger names like Stryke and
Trendroid hand in respectable work themselves (househeads will want
to hear Stryke's Latin-tinged tribal house mix), the spotlight is
stolen by the Tom Stephan-approved Southside mix. Throw this on
a system and take a step back--absolutely massive.

CHAB "The Dub Sessions" 2x12" (Original and Smith
& Selway Mxs) Shinichi [Progressive, Tech-house] Deep Dish's
Shinichi label hands in an excellent new package from Cyber Records
mainstay Chab. Taking a somewhat new direction, Chab delves into
a deeper, dubbier vibe that has excellent crossover potential for
a house crowd. Smith & Selway take it to a harder and techier
level that Danny Howells has been feeling, but my pick goes to the
Electric Dub--a prog-tinged blast of reggae-inspired bass and groove.
Tasty.

Also in this week is new remix and production work from Earth Deuley,
Patrick Turner, Inland Knights, Iz & Diz (remixed by Mark Farina
and Fred Everything!), Scott Pace, Akufen, Mazi's Studio Nova project,
Swirl People, Alexi Delano, Infusion (remixed by Junkie XL), Medway,
Pete Heller, Herbert, and Johnny Fiasco, among many others.
New label output from Siesta, Classic, Whoop, Plastic Raygun, Silver
Pearl, Drop Music, Crack & Speed, Distinctive Breaks, Honchos,
Tronicsole, Presslab, Casey Hogan's Klenzd imprint, Akademia, Future
Groove, Silver Network, Baroque, Rescue Recordings, OM Records,
and many more also check in.
Hot restock music from Grant Dell, Rithma & Jonene, Tony Thomas,
Joshua, Rick Preston, Undercover Agency, Rocket (with Jeno and Defenders
Of The Faith remixes), Joshua Collins, Joeski, 2nd Shift, Layo &
Bushwacka!, Curb Feelers (Lance Desardi and Cpen!), and the extremely
hot Gimme Some Sugar EP from the Big Popsicle folks also
find their way back into the database this week.
Thanks much and be good. I'm done!
