Our annual Summer Sale is still in full swing and the lot of you seem to be taking advantage of it: Hundreds of titles have been marked down as low as $2.99! We can't guarantee how long it'll last, so get digging while you can.
In the meantime, this week's first new release update is online now at Primalrecords.com. Here's a small taste:
TAPIO SCHNAARS "Move You" (2 Mixes) MDEX [House] First, a moment of silence for the legendary jazz vocalist Nina Simone, who passed away earlier this
year. Then, crank this one up loud. SF DJ/producer Marc Deon gets things going on his MDEX label with this brand new (and exclusive) EP from Tapio Schnaars. "Move You" borrows Nina Simone's sultry voice for a chunky deep house rub in the vein of JT Donaldson or Fred Everything: Warm analog keys, subtle etherealism, fat and bouncy bass. This is hot. Mix 2 is basically a dub, focusing on the musicality of the original and giving a little bit more time for the horns to do their thing. Not yet available in stores, this record just might be the next secret weapon in your crate.

DAVID PANDA feat. CECILLIA STALIN "Sister Supreme" (Original, Fred Everything, and Gamat 3000 Mxs) Dessous [House, Tech-house] The Dessous label is on point with this one. David Panda's label debut is a deep houser that would not sound out of place on Naked Music--tight drum programming, atmospheric keys, and Cecillia Stalin's sexy vocal give this one versatility on the dancefloor or in the lounge. Primal favorite Fred Everything keeps it deep on the remix, but eschews the slightly ethnic groove of the original with a punchy Detroit styled b-line and a slew of wavy synth stabs. My personal pick, however, goes to Dessous stable stalwarts Gamat 3000 who grab as much of the vocal as they can for a stripped-down tech-houser that harks back to the classic ADNY and Timewriter style of the Plastic City era. Talk about floor-absorbing basslines! Quality stuff here, folks.

FREAKY CHAKRA "It's Time" (Original, Eddie Richards, and Sound Of The Suburbs Mxs) Euphoria [House, Tribal, Tech-house] It's somewhat of a renaissance for Daum Bentley's Freaky Chakra project. Hot on the heels of his totally hot Sean Q6 remix for Hallucination Limited, Euphoria label owner Marky Star picks up "It's Time" for this blasted 3-track package. They don't call him "freaky" for nothing: "It's Time" is a seriously twisted affair for peak-time only--uptempo percussion, dark and dubby FX, and a bass line that gives literal meaning to the metaphor of "stabbing." This is some sick shit. On the flip, tech-house Godfather Eddie Richards lends a deeper interpretation to the record, keeping the moody nature of the original with a subtle, though creepy, piano sample underneath an otherwise jackin' rhythm section. It works big time. Swag Records boys Sound Of The Suburbs round things out with a proper tribal tech-house rub for the dancefloor traditionalist, but the absolutely screwy efforts from Freaky Chakra and Eddie Richards is where my money's at on this one. Excellent.

More to come later this week, including--if we can cross our fingers here--100% exclusive white label copies of the latest EP for Primal's PR2 Recordings imprint. It's Mr. Barcode, and he means business. In the meantime, hit up the Online Shop and be good, everyone!
