The second in the two-part follow up to the Four Piece Set EPs from Spatula City Records is “The BY EP”. The
A-side features The Sound Republic Remix of Tommy Largo’s “Work Dat”, with a wicked jazz-guitar breakdown
that gets crowds screaming and a drop that gets butts shaking. The B1 on the flip (TSR Remix of Jacob
London’s “Return to Squirrel Mountain”) completely switches the vibe of the record up and is aimed
squarely at the fans of the techy nasty Dirtybirdesque tunes while maintaining that funky Chicago
sensibility folks have come to expect from SpatulaCity. And finally on B2 check out the TSR remix of
Troydon's "Waxed" - a remix that the boys made years ago as a DJ tool to play out. People reacted so well to
the track that they managed to secure the rights to it for this release. All in all we are looking at

Aaron Ross (Defected / Strictly Rhythm A&R) and Mark Farina, who has used this remix on his forthcoming Fabric
mix CD. On side B we get the original Swing To Mood Dub - but in a way you've never heard it before: lovingly
remastered by audio mastering guru Chris Alexander. This true classic now sounds HUGE! This release is strictly

Byron Foxx has previously released material on Peaches and Digifunk. He delivers his first one for Guesthouse
Digital here with "Everybody Loves The Bongo", a swingin' cut that sounds like early Greenskeepers material from
the old G-Swing imprint. Dan X from No Assembly Firm turns out Chi-town flavored remix that would fit right at
home in a James Curd set.

Myna back in action after a five months hiatus and change of distributors. This time around Simon Newby
(aka Da Sunlounge) teams up with vocalist Nica Brooke for a lovely deep house outing that's got summer
written all over it. Our favorite cut here is the slammin' Inland Knights dub (check it on a lout club system
for maximum effect) but all the versions on offer work quite well.

Borrowed deliver their second release, again from Midlands producers IK / Da Sunlounge /
Toka Project. On Side A the boys take a bit of the acapella from Sunkids Featuring Chance "Rescue Me"
(originally released on Tony Humphries' Yellorange label) and add a great electro flavored bassline and
percussion. Flip over for an equally nice cut complete with sped-up hip hop vocals and samples that will
easly be recognized to those familiar with the Drop Music catalog. Essential, and very limited.

You can't go wrong with this release: four choice cuts from four of our favorite producers on one slab of
vinyl! Very varied EP that goes from cool vocal (Shrewd's "Not The End") to bouncy underground (Jay West's
"Good Place To Go" and Joshua Heath's "That's The Way") to super funky filtered disco cut-up (Christian Malloni's
"Reach"). Definitely something for everyone on this fantastic 12".

Replay, were they team up with Bleep District (aka Matt Powell and Matt Hunt of Rhythm Plate). "Still High
Together" on A1 and "You Don't Let Me" on B1 are our favs, but all three cuts are ace. Finally back in full stock
after blowing through a handfull of promo copies a couple months back. Smokin' release!

|
It's been over 6 months since the last Raise release (the excellent Side Effect EP) but the label's back in a big
way with this new one. The standout track for us is "Lay On Me" on side A, a very different offering for the IK
boys who are trying some new things: a dope vocal is layered over a unique groove to great effect. The ladies
seem to really love this one, a tested floorfiller. Flip
over for "where Ya At" - a more typical IK offering complete with hip hop vocal hits, and Larry Five's redo
of "Lay On Me" - which drops the vocal in favor of cool FX and a techier vibe.

Groove Federation (Darren Payton & Nathan Walwyn to their mammas) have previously released material on
Greenhouse, Shrewd Music, and Control amongst others. They return to the Yakuza imprint to follow on last
year's "Bounce To This" release. Four cuts are on offer here, they all work well in that Notts style we dig
so much and sound great blended with cuts from IK, the Littlemen or Kinky Movement. It's rare to get a 4 tracker
where all cuts are top notch, this is one of these instances.

One of our favorite labels delivering their 20th release already, and its a nice one from Dominic Martin
(working here without his usual partner Chris Harris). The original on side A is a groover with shuffly
percussion and old school synth stabs. Remixes on the flip come courtesy of Milton Jackson who delivers a
quality rerub Jimpster would be proud of, and label boss Pete Dafeet who turns out a lovely late night deep
rendition.

Bobby & Klein provide a great remix on side A with funky vocals, guitar licks and deep sub-bass.
The two original cuts on side B "Music" and "Who Got The Beats" would have been right at home on the G-Swing
label and would work a treat in a James Curd or Farina set.
